Hornets
Last Season:38-44
Preview prediction:48-34
Oddsmakers:41-41
Today's 2006-07 preview comes from New Orleans/Oklahoma City, via the recently-redesigned Hornets247.com. The Hornets made a few big moves this summer, picking up Peja Stojakovic, Bobby Jackson, and Tyson Chandler. From the preview:

Tyson Chandler is probably the most intriguing addition to the team this year. He’s a five-year vet, he just turned 24, and he can rebound, block shots and commit fouls like nobody’s business. The Bulls gave up on him, but the Hornets are using big words like “untapped” and “potential”, often in the same sentence. It’s a lot like how the Denver Nuggets are talking about JR Smith right now. Apparently that’s called irony. Anyway, I’m happy to have Chandler on the team. Chris Paul has magic powers, and he may well make Tyson look like Hakeem Olajuwon out there.

Chandler apparently showed up for training camp looking like Mr. T, which is already an upgrade.

Of course, the Hornets also lost a few players. Besides Smith, Kirk Snyder was also apparently traded because he landed in head coach Byron Scott's doghouse. Scott has a reputation for being rather tough on players; despite the fact that he's holding the shortest practices in the league, a couple of newcomers are apparently having a tough time with training camp:

Hilton Armstrong: I thought it was going to be easy at first, but my legs started to burn. These have been the hardest days of my life, so far.

Bobby JacksonThis is the hardest training camp I've ever been in. Maybe because I'm getting old.

Because of all the changes, and because most of their key players are either very young or past their prime, there are a lot of open questions about the Hornets this year. But when you consider the talent level, it isn't hard to believe that can build on last year's huge improvement.
